"Cobots"

City: Mexico City
Client: Tec Review Magazine
Field: Magazine Collaboration

For the May/June edition of Tec Review magazine in Mexico, we were commissioned by Grupo Expansión to develop the cover and interior illustrations for the magazine’s main article, under the art direction of Adriana Peña.

The visual concept centered around the growing success of YuMi, a collaborative robot developed by ABB. Designed to work alongside humans and quickly learn from them, YuMi raises both excitement and concern. The article explores a key dilemma: will robots like YuMi replace human jobs and lead to unemployment, or will they become invaluable partners, assisting in complex, repetitive, or hazardous tasks where human lives would be at risk?

The illustrations depict a friendly robot performing various tasks, identifying objects inside transparent glasses, maneuvering a piece through a copper tube, and even replicating the movements of an orchestra conductor. These scenes invite the reader to reflect: are these robots truly as intelligent and helpful as we imagine?
